Reflection
Today I finally learned how to use Twitter! Although I had an account set up, I never used it. At first, I didn't really understand how Twitter even connected to the classroom. However, after experiencing #Ed Chat, I was able to see the value of it in terms of professional development. As a preservice teacher, it was refreshing to see other teaching professionals willingly sharing their ideas with one another. I know that I will refer to many of the links that the folks on #Ed Chat post. In fact, I found several of them very useful and have already bookmarked them to use later.
As for using Twitter in a classroom full of middle school students, I don't believe it is as useful a tool. In fact, I can see students at this age becoming distracted while using it. It is hard for me to see the value of Twitter as a learning tool for middle school students; however, I am really happy that I learned how to use it. Perhaps, students at the high school level would use it to enhance their learning through collaboration.
Twitter falls into the understanding level of Bloom's Taxonomy because it lends itself to collaboration among students. However, I see students using this tool as a way of communicating with their friends, rather than enhancing their student learning.
